Former Dallas Cowboy Deion Sanders announced Saturday he’ll be working to fight poverty with a nonprofit backed by conservative businessman and political donor Charles Koch.
The new partnership, dubbed Prime 5, aims to raise $21 million over the next year.
“I feel like after so many years of doing this alone, I’m part of a wonderful winning team with the infrastructure and resources to take it to the next level,” Sanders said.
He said the partnership with Koch began developing in January after his pastor, the Rev. Omar Jahwar, invited him to speak on behalf of Urban Specialists, the minister’s program to help former gang members become “ambassadors of peace.”
